Elowah Falls Bridge

Elowah Falls Bridge, originally uploaded by raprice.

Elowah Falls drops 290 feet in the Columbia River Gorge. Ali hiked about 3 miles this day. Where is she? The little blue speck on the left end of the bridge is she. Mary Beth at this time is walking around to the right and ultimately behind the falls.

I ran across a web site of hikes 'local' to various cities in the US. Elowah Falls is featured at LocalHikes - Elowah Falls Information. It includes some photos and a topo map along with an elevation profile.

Richard, is that sulfur on the rock face on the side of the falls? Beautiful pictures!!

It's actually a type of lichen but I don't know which one. The rock face at a nearby falls (c. 15 miles away) has a similar but much more extensive growth (hundreds of square feet).
