Our town of Friendswood has been included in CNN/Money Magazine's Best 100 Places to Live live in the U.S. The 2007 rating focuses on small towns "that offered the best combination of economic opportunity, good schools, safe streets, things to do and a real sense of community." Our move here certainly wasn't the outcome of research into this kind of ranking or data. And I've long ago given up the staking of my identity on the success of the "home team." But we have enjoyed the benefits of living here. I just wish the area had some mountains. I'd even settle for a rolling hill country. But the skies are remarkable most of the year. As the photo shows, our welcoming sign is back up! A few years ago some graduating high school seniors absconded with it. I think their grins vanished pretty quickly when they heard how serious the charges were for destruction of public property and how much it cost to restore the sign.
