Camping Trip, May 09

Jonathan and I took another camping trip to Pedernales Falls State Park, this time to use the 'car camping' area as our launching point for a day hike at Enchanted Rock, an hour or so further to the west.
The picture of Jonathan and me was made from the overlook to the falls, really a cascade, on the Pedernales River. The landscape photo shows a couple of the vernal pools atop Enchanted Rock, a huge pink granite rock outcropping, second largest such feature in the U.S. after Stone Mountain, Georgia. All of the pools are shallow but many are stuffed with vegetation. The solo shot of Jonathan gives you some idea of how barren ERock is both on the hike up and along the top (except for the pools).
